Statement of Faith

This Statement of Faith is the heart of the Abundant Grace Constitution.  The Constitution also describes how we organize our family life in order to promote unity and harmony with one another.  The entire Abundant Grace Constitution can be downloaded as a Microsoft Word document here.

We Believe:

1.  The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, perfectly preserved according to His faithfulness, absolutely true, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.

2 Samuel 23:2, Psalm 119:89, 160, Isaiah 30:8, 40:8, Matthew 5:17-18, Mark 12:26, Luke 24:27, John 10:34-35, 17:17, Acts 1:16, Romans 3:1-4, 1 Thessalonians 2:13,  2 Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Revelation 22:18-19

2.  In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Each equally deserving the same worship, honor and obedience; that they execute distinct but harmonious functions in the work of redemption.

Genesis 1:1, Exodus 20:2-3, Deuteronomy 4:35, Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 90:2, 115:3, Isaiah 44:8, 45:5, Daniel 4:17, Matthew 3:16-17,  28:19-20,  Mark 12:29, John 1:1-3, 4:24, 10:30,  14:9 Acts 5:3-4, Romans 1:7, 1 Corinthians 8:6,  Ephesians 4:3-6      1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 1:1-3, 8  1 John 5:20, Revelation 1:4-5

3.  That God the Father, as first person of the Trinity orders and disposes all things according to His own sovereign purpose and sovereign grace.  As the Father, the most High God, He is sovereign in creation, providence, and salvation.  We believe He saves all who come to Him through Jesus Christ, calling them His children, and that His children have the privilege and right to call him their father.

 1 Chronicles 29:11, Psalm 115:3, 145:8-9, Daniel 4:35, John 1:12, 4:34, 5:19, 28-29, 15:26,  Acts 1:7, Romans 8:14-16, 1 Corinthians  11:3,  Ephesians 1:3-6, 1 Peter 1:3

4.  That Jesus Christ is fully God and perfect man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins, according to the Scriptures.  Further, He arose bodily on the third day from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits  at the right hand of God the Father where He  now intercedes as our High Priest and Advocate and leads the church under His Headship.

5.  That the the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ.  He convicts the world of its guilt.  He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God.  He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living, and service.

6.  That man was created in the image of God,  free of sin and in perfect union with God.  But, through Adam’s (man’s) disobedience sin entered the world and sin has been passed through Adam’s seed to all men since (one exception-Jesus Christ).  All men are therefore separated from God, totally incapable of pleasing Him and deserving of the wrath of God in hell.  Salvation and fellowship with God  can be obtained only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

 Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2-3, Genesis 5:3, 1 Kings 8:46, Psalm 14:1-3, Isaiah 53:6, Jeremiah 17:9, Matthew 25:46, John 3:6, Romans 3:9-18, 23, 5:12-14, 19, 6:23, Galatians 3:22, Ephesians 2:1-3, Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:11-15

7.  That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who  receive Jesus Christ through faith alone are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

John 1:12, 29, John 3:3-7, John 14:6, Luke 19:10, Acts 4:12, 16:31, Romans 3:24-25, 4:5, 5:8, Romans 6:23, 10:13, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 1:3-4,  1:7, 2:8-9, 1 Timothy 1:15, 2:5, 2 Timothy 1:9,  1 Peter 1:18-19, 2:24, 3:18  1 John 2:2

8.  That those who receive Jesus Christ through faith alone are eternally secure in their salvation by the power, will and promise of God and as result can never be separated from God, cast out of His family , or lose the favor of His love in spite of sin’s committed after a believer’s salvation.  This faith is evidenced by obedience to the will of God, repentance of sin, and works of righteousness.  God will complete the process of salvation in the believer until the day of Christ.

 John 5:24, 6:37, 10:27-29, Romans 5:1, 6:1-2, 15-22,  8:32-39, 1 Corinthians 1:4-19, Ephesians 1:13,14, Ephesians 4:30, II Timothy 2:13, Philippians 1:6, Hebrews 12:6-11. 1 Peter 1:5,13,  1 John 5:11-13, Titus 2:11-15

9.  That water baptism is an ordinance to be observed during this present age in obedience to the Lord's command.  It is a symbol  of our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen savior, symbolizing our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.  It should not be regarded as a means for imparting  salvation.

 Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:41, 8:36-39, 9:18, 16:30-33, 18:8

10.  That the Lord's Supper, also known as Communion, is an ordinance to be observed by the Church during this present age in obedience to the Lord's command.  It should not be regarded as a means for imparting salvation or forgiving sins.

 Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Corinthians 11:23-32, Acts 2:42

11.  That the true Church is comprised of all people  who, through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and have, therefore, become part of the body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head.
